Worker Resource Centre Inaugurated for Migrant Workers in Bangalore

Posted on Sector Garments

In recent years, the garment sector in Bangalore has seen a steady rise in the number of migrant workers employed at various factories. Cividep has undertaken a project to address the issues and problems confronting these workers, which we have named ‘From Modern Slavery to Self Reliance’.

As part of this project, we have set up a Worker Resource Centre (WRC) in Peenya that will be accessible to workers at all times. This Centre will offer personal counselling, legal counselling, training on workers’ rights, and training on communication skills and financial skills. These services will be available to both local and migrant workers.

The Worker Resource Center was inaugurated on 29th September 2015, and will be open between 1.30 am and 7.30 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
