In an interview with FM4 Vienna, Laura Ceresna of Cividep India talks about the appalling conditions of work faced by first-generation industrial workers of Sriperumbudur, an electronics manufacturing hub near Chennai, that has also come to be known as the ‘Detroit’ of India.
Laura talked about the low wages, lack of OHS measures, burdensome production targets, subpar residential facilities that workers of the factories here have to bear with.
