In their latest paper, Cividep India and SÜDWIND e.V. attempt to explain the need for sustainability in the leather sector. To summarize: the writers specifically look at its implications for three key Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 1, SDG 8 and SDG 12). Through examples, the article attempts to make a case for businesses to integrate sustainability and human rights concerns into their core business practices. The article also argues why human rights due-diligence practices are indispensable in the path of achieving a sustainable future for the leather industry. The joint work also provides specific ideas for designers on how to create sustainability opportunities and cultures with respect to the problems discussed.
